When my kids were little, my husband and I began a family tradition of doing something charitable each year over the holidays. It was easy when I was their cub master and girl scout leader, because opportunities for dens, packs, and troops to sing carols at the nursing home, collect canned goods for the food bank, or solicit clothing donations for Goodwill were abundant.
Here in San Antonio, we have a tradition known as Elf Louise, where dozens of families volunteer to dress as Santa, Mrs. Claus, and elves to deliver wrapped presents to other families who aren't as privileged. I have wonderful memories of participating when my children were younger.
Now that my kids are grown, I seem to have forgotten to do anything these past few years. But just last week, I received an invitation to participate in a charitable box set to raise money for a young woman who needs life-saving surgery.
If you're looking for something charitable to do over the holidays, please consider purchasing this set for $2.99.
Ashley Burlingame is a young wife and mom of two fighting for her life. She is in desperate need of a life-saving surgery, but the medical team won’t move ahead until the family has raised the funds to cover the procedure. We’re doing what we can to help them get there.
This anthology includes sixteen books handpicked by the authors—our favorites of the books we’ve written. You’ll enjoy hours of reading pleasure while you help Ashley move a little closer to getting the care she must have.
